The annual open day on Dunglass Island was held last Saturday 1st September. Here Fishery Board staff demonstrate how they monitor fish stocks within the Cromarty catchment by the use of electro fishing. Once caught the fish were anaesthetised and spectators were then shown the different features between salmon and trout. Other fish identified were eels, stickle back, flounder and minnows. Children had a go at kick sampling and were taught how to identify river invertebrates and learnt of their importance with in the river ecosystem .
