The official opening ceremony of the River Tay salmon fishing season will take place in Perthshire this weekend.
The opening will be hosted by Meikleour Fishings and the Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board tomorrow (January 15) from 9.30am.
In contrast to previous years the ceremony, held immediately downstream of Kinclaven Bridge, will not be a public affair given COVID guidelines.
The event will be scaled-down and limited to some 36 pre-booked anglers together with a handful of Meikleour Estate and Board representatives in attendance.
A procession of anglers will be led to the river by single piper Ian Duncan, pipe major of the Atholl Highlanders.
