Dr David Summers, Director of the Tay DSFB is moving to a new role with SEPA. Fisheries Management Scotland wishes David all the best for the future.
Dr Alan Wells, CEO of Fisheries Management Scotland (FMS) said,
“David Summers has made a massive contribution to fisheries management in Scotland throughout his 26 years at the Tay District Salmon Fishery Board and Tay Rivers Trust. In addition to his significant contribution to the Tay, David’s expertise has been invaluable at a national level, as a Board member of FMS, a member of the Scottish Government Science and Evidence Board and as a mentor to other River Directors across Scotland. David was instrumental in the restoration of 13km of the upper River Garry, which had been practically dry since the 1950s because of hydro abstraction. Wild salmon are now spawning successfully along the length of the restored river – a fantastic legacy of David’s dedication to the Tay catchment, which hopefully will encourage new talents to continue his inspiring work.”
