The Board of Fisheries Management Scotland has appointed David Johnstone as new Chair. David takes over from Richard Sankey, who was chair of the Board for over 6 years.

David is a co-owner and manager of Annandale Estates just south of Moffat, which is a mixed low ground estate with farming, forestry and sporting property interests, including fishing rights on the River Annan.

David is also Vice Convener of the Annan District Salmon Fishery Board and a board member of NatureScot, within which role he chairs the Protected Areas Committee and also the Moorland Forum. He is also involved in the local development trust in the south of Scotland community housing as a director.

David Johnstone said “it is a great honour to have been asked to chair Fisheries Management Scotland, and Richard is a very tough act to follow. I am very much looking forward to working with all the team and our member network across Scotland”
