ART are still controlling giant hogweed on the Ayr, Irvine and Garnock catchments. If anyone should come across any giant hogweed plants that look like they haven’t been sprayed (the plants will be yellowing and starting to lean over if they have) then please contact the office to let us know where these plants are. One plant can bear 20,000 seeds and seeds can remain viable for up to 10 years. Continuous control is a must and a handful of missed plants in the catchment could produce over 100,000 seeds.
