The River Dee Trust and its partners in the Save the Spring initiative are delighted to report the recent achievement of a major milestone for the programme – the successful return of 75 adult salmon back to the River Muick in early October 2025 as part of the smolt-to-adult supplementation trial.
This trial aims to investigate whether the method is a viable one which can be used to support critically low populations of wild Atlantic salmon in the Dee catchment and elsewhere.
Many individuals have worked meticulously, tirelessly and passionately on getting the trial through this milestone, businesses and funders have been supporting this important trial and the wider Save the Spring mission, thank you to all involved on behalf of the programme partners.
