The first salmon of the season has been caught on the River Brora, head water bailiff Martin Livings has reported.

The 6.5lb fish was caught on the Black Water, a tributary of the River Brora, yesterday, Thursday, February 15.

Mr Livings said that local angler Graham Davidson caught the fish in Pool Pheadair with a Dee Monkey fly in approximately three feet of water.

The river opened on February 1
