21st September: Bailiffs take on crackdown mission over illegal fishing on Stirling’s rivers

Patrols along the banks of local rivers have been ongoing in a bid to crackdown on illegal fishing practices across Stirling area.

The most recent patrol by the Forth District Salmon Fishery Board (Forth DSFB) took place on Tuesday with the group’s bailiffs visiting several sites around the Stirling, Doune and Callander area.

That came on the back of previous patrols last week at the Blue Banks and the Stirling Council Fisheries Forth beat at the Dykes and Green Banks.

During this week’s survey of the popular fishing spots in Stirling, Doune and Callander, Blue Banks was targeted again with one angler being removed for fishing without a permit. The individual was also fishing the worm – something that is illegal at this time of year due to local bylaws. A warning was issued and the angler’s details have been added to the Forth DSFB database.
