Fisheries Management Scotland welcome the announcement of significant support for efforts to address challenges around salmon stocks.

Dr Alan Wells, Chief Executive of FMS said:

“We are delighted that Scottish Government have responded through the announcement of significant financial support for fisheries management. Our member District Salmon Fishery Boards and Fishery Trusts make a hugely significant contribution to maintaining and improving our freshwater environment, but these efforts are limited by lack of funding. This support will make a significant contribution to research and monitoring efforts and will help to facilitate voluntary DSFB mergers, where there is a local wish to pursue this.

We also welcome the clear recognition, of the efforts that our members are making to address a range of pressures on Scottish salmon stocks.”
