SALMON is illegally being sold door to door in Caithness as warnings have been put out to establishments and the public not to be ignorant of breaking the law by purchasing from poachers.
Caithness District Salmon Fishery Board has reported salmon being illegally caught by poachers at rivers in the county who then try and sell it on.
There is a ban on selling rod caught salmon as well as a three year ban on netting salmon at sea in a bid to boost the species population.
