FIRNS4 – Scottish Rivers Fund: from launch to delivery

Summary

The project aims to finalise the development of the Scottish Rivers Fund to make it ‘market ready’ and fully operational. It will achieve that by supporting a transition of the Fund’s management from Fisheries Management Scotland to NatureScot, as well as increased emphasis on the development of corporate partnerships to attract financial contributions to the Fund. These will provide the means for supporting a first wave of river restoration projects across Scotland and will pave the way for a growing portfolio over time. 

The project builds on previous FIRNS projects (FIRNS3, FIRNS2, FIRNS1), which laid the way for some of the Fund’s underlying governance mechanisms, designed the Fund’s operating model, identified a delivery-ready river restoration project pipeline and developed an overarching monitoring framework.

The project benefits from a partnership with NatureScot. Additional partners include the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), the Marine Directorate of the Scottish Government, Crown Estate Scotland, and the FMS membership.
